Pioneers in Mallorca since 1988

Mallorca Balloons was founded in 1988 and became one of the early companies to offer passenger balloon flights in Spain, while also ranking among the pioneers in Europe. Over the years, the company has evolved with changing requirements while keeping the same core idea: serious flying, warm hosting, and a carefully managed experience from ground to landing.

Its story is larger than sightseeing alone. It is also the story of a company that has helped shape ballooning culture on the island, adapting its base, operations, and fleet to increasingly high standards.

Safety and operating standards

Safety has always been the main requirement. Pilots renew their checks and examinations on a recurring basis under civil aviation supervision, and the company has strengthened its own internal quality and safety controls over the years.

Mallorca Balloons is also the only operator in the area with an officially authorized balloon airport. That is not just an operational detail. It reflects the way the company thinks: better preparation, more comfort for passengers, and a more organized start to the experience.

Organising major ballooning events

The company has also built a strong reputation as an organiser. Between 1993 and 2008 it ran the International Cala Millor Regatta, between 1999 and 2005 the balloon air festival in Palma, in 2006 the Copa del Rey of ballooning, and in 2019 the European Championship with more than one hundred balloons. In 2027 it will take on that role again with a new edition of the 2027 Europeans in Mallorca.

That organisational background places Mallorca Balloons in a rare position within the sector. It does not only operate passenger flights; it also understands complex logistics, international crews, and large-format aviation events.

Competition is a real part of the company story. Its pilots have earned Spanish championship medals and podium finishes across several decades, along with notable results in the Copa del Rey, regional championships, and international events in Hungary, Poland, Germany, Dubai, and Seville.
